McCain's Dangerous Cowboy Moods

John McCain is once again lashing out in cowboy-style again, hitting at Russia's defensive response against Georgia's Pak-1948-style invasion of South Ossetia. He's once again talking the hardline Cold War talk, and I see a number of Atlanticist-types quickly rallying to praise him. While he has in the past shown a tough stance on China, I'm concerned that his cowboy-style shoot-from-the-hip reactionism could aggravate dormant ColdWar tensions in a way that the Atlanticists would be able to sieze upon. That could ultimately benefit Pak and China, as we saw Kissinger and Brzezinski engineer during the 1970s and 1980s, so that we could get hurt again. I appreciate Obama's more moderate and measured stance towards Russia, as well as his prioritization of the Pak-Afghan side of the War on Terror over the Iraq detour. These are things that we should think about, and maybe cause us to give Obama a second look.

San,
Obama has been endorsed by every Atlanticist out there, NYT,Economist, IHT,Time you name it have endorsed Obama and singing his praises. Obama is just Joan Kerry with a tan. So Obama is the real Atlanticist, not McCain. In fact McCain wants the Chi-coms out of the UN.

Besides, in the rent-a-thug banana republic club of Eastern Europe and Former USSR, its hard to make out the good guy vs. bad guy. We should be careful what we wish for.
